Class for all levels discusses where you want to take your pottery. Beginners will create simple cylinders on the wheel and turn them into mugs. Students will be guided to make beautiful functional ware or artistic non-functional forms depending on the individual. Decorate pieces with food safe/microwave safe under-glaze or glaze. Students are encouraged to explore their own imaginations, create projects, and work at their own speed. Students practice techniques including pinch, coil, slab and wheel throwing. Pysanky is the millennia old Ukrainian tradition of decorating eggs. These beautiful "wax resist and dyed" eggs were believed to herald the spring season offering fertility and new growth of animals and crops. Create your own pysanky using Coverdale Farm eggs with shells in natural shades of brown, cream, white, and green. Aunt Philly’s Toothbrush: Rug Making

Learn how to make a rug from strips of material using a special flat needle which is provided for you. The rug is attached to itself, so you do not need to sew the rug together, as with a braided rug. This is a quick and fun way to make rugs ranging from coaster size to chair pads to large floor rugs. Please bring strips of fabric 2 inches wide and 45 inches long.

This program is an educational outreach program of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra. They have provided 10 violins in half and three-qurter sizes. During the 5 classes, children will have the chance to learn a beginning song such as Bingo, or Mary Had A Little Lamb. They will also have a chance to play rhythm and improv games with the violin while learning to work with one another in an orchestra! Children 9 years and older.
