Cape Birding Escape

Time: 9-11 a.m. Location: Cape Henlopen State Park - Seaside Nature Center near Lewes, DE Cost: $25 per person
Cape Henlopen State Park provides opportunities to view migratory raptors and shorebirds including the endangered piping plover, as well as residents such as the brown-headed nuthatch. Come prepared to explore ocean dunes, tidal flats, maritime forest, and the park's World War II history.
Directions:
From the South: Take either Rt. 13 or Rt. 113 North, then Rt. 9 to Lewes. At the intersection with Rt. 1, turn right (south on Rt. 1). Follow signs for Cape May Ferry & Cape Henlopen State Park, taking Rt. 9 (not Rt. 9 Business). Make a left at the light after the State Police Office. Once at the ferry, continue down Cape Henlopen Drive following brown signs to the Park. Once inside Cape Henlopen State Park, go through the fee booth, follow signs for Seaside Nature Center (left immediately after the fee booth). Take a left again at the intersection, follow the road to the right, then the second left into the Nature Center parking lot. The guide will meet you.
From the North: Take Rt. 1 South to Lewes, Rehoboth Beach. Follow signs for Cape May Ferry & Cape Henlopen State Park (Rt. 9 East). Make a left at the light after the State Police Office. Once inside Cape Henlopen State Park, go through the fee booth, follow signs for Seaside Nature Center (left immediately after the fee booth). Take a left again at the intersection, follow the road to the right, then the second left into Nature Center parking lot. The guide will meet you.
