Delaware’s Coastal Birding Delights

Time: 1-4 p.m. Location: Quiet Resorts Visitor Center (back parking lot) in Fenwick, DE Cost: $20 per person
Explore Assawoman Wildlife Area's coastal bays, ponds, and forests. Possibilities include brownheaded nuthatches, waterfowl, wading birds, and bald eagles. Coastal Delaware is a birder's paradise. Meet your guide at Quiet Resorts Visitor Center, Fenwick-Bethany Chamber of Commerce.
Directions:
From Ocean City: Head North on Coastal Highway (which becomes Rt. 1) towards Fenwick-Bethany Beach, Delaware. The Visitor Center is on the right hand side (oceanside) in Fenwick approximately 1 mile after you come into Delaware. You will see a sign for "Quiet Resorts Visitor Center". You will meet in the back parking lot to carpool to the birding site.
From Baltimore/Washington/Northern Virginia Area: Take Rt. 50 East across the Bay Bridge. Continue on Rt. 50 to the Rt. 404 intersection and turn left. Stay on Rt. 404 until Bridgeville, DE . Rt. 404 becomes Rt. 18 at Bridgeville. Stay on Rt. 18 to Rt. 113 at Georgetown, DE. Rt. 113 South to Rt. 26-East on Rt. 26 to Rt. 1 at Bethany Beach. Follow Rt. 1 to Fenwick Island. The Quiet Resorts Visitor Center will be on your left.
From New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia/Wilmington Area: Take I-95 South to Exit 4. Follow Rt. 1 South (Rt. 1 is under construction and will become Rt. 13 and Rt. 113 at times). Continue following the highway signs for Rt. 1 South until you reach Bethany Beach. Follow Rt. 1 to Fenwick Island. The Quiet Resorts Visitor Center will be on your left.
