The Delmarva Birding Weekend is more than a great opportunity to see unique local birds... it is also a time to meet unique local birders! Join us to swap birding stories, chat with local guides, and add to the master checklist for the weekend at one of these "tally rallies". (There is no fee for attending a tally rally, but food & drinks will be available for purchase).

Delaware Bird-A-Thon Fund Raiser

Location: Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats - Rehoboth Avenue; Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
Looking to start your Delmarva Birding Weekend fun a day early, and support Delmarva bird conservation? Find out how you can participate in the 5th Annual Delaware Bird-a-Thon, sponsored by the Delmarva Ornithological Society. Bring friends, and learn how local birders are securing and enhancing shorebird habitat along the Delaware coast. Dogfish Head will donate 10% of all proceeds to the 2011 Delaware Bird-A-Thon. ALL WEEKEND! Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition and Art Festival
Time: Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. - Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. - Award ceremony, 5 p.m. - Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Location: Ocean City Convention Center - 40th Street, Ocean City, Maryland
The World Championship is an international event where carvers, collectors, and visitors convene at the end of each April in Ocean City, MD each year. Over 150 varieties of bird carvings from highly decorative works of art to functional hunting decoys can be viewed at the premiere, most prestigious competition in the world. Competitors of all levels--from youth to world champions--compete against their peers for the chance to win some of the $70,000 prize money, as well as other recognition.

Rehoboth Beach Tally Rally
Time: 5-7 p.m.
Location: Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
Birder's will enjoy good beer and good company at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in downtown Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. This is where Dogfish Head all began back in 1995. It's a cozy place, finished with antique barn wood and great old black & white photos - a great place to meet fellow birders for a beer, a meal, or just stop by to hear some birding tales from the field!
Saturday - April 28
Ocean City Tally Rally
Time: 4-6 p.m.
Location: Angler Restaurant, Talbot Street on the Bay in Ocean City, Maryland
After a full day of field trips, you can help add species to the master checklist that is kept for the Delmarva Birding Weekend. This event begins just after the Shore Bird Explorer trip returns to the Talbot Street Pier at 4 p.m. Light hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available to all DBW participants.
